Pete Davidson finally spoke up this week about the news that he and model‑actor Elsie Hewitt are expecting their first child. Talking to  E! News on July 22—six days after the pregnancy became public—the comedian couldn’t hide his grin. “I’m very lucky and very, very happy,” he said, adding that becoming a dad “has always been my dream.”

Davidson, 30, has often joked about his turbulent upbringing. Now he says parenthood is his chance to rewrite the script. “I can’t wait to look after someone and give them the childhood I never had. You figure out what you missed and what hurt, then you do the opposite,” he explained.

The reaction from his inner circle, he said, has been nothing but encouragement. “Everybody’s pumped. They know how long I’ve talked about this. Every single friend has said, ‘This is going to be the best thing you ever do.’”

Davidson and Hewitt, 28, were first spotted together in March and quietly moved into a shared place two months later. The pregnancy reveal arrived on July 16 when Hewitt posted a sonogram to Instagram with a tongue‑in‑cheek caption: “Welp, now everyone knows we had sex.”

For a performer who usually mines his personal life for punchlines, the tone was noticeably earnest. “I’m just excited,” he told the outlet. “It already feels like the most important role I’ll ever get.”
