Childish Gambino quietly owned summer with his “This is America” anthem and video, sparking conversation and controversy that resonated for the last few months. He carefully cultivated a perfect visual piece that worked so well with the audio, making it ripe for listening to over and over again. As we come to a close on summer he dropped another video to go with audio. Feels Like Summer dropped a while ago, but the cool transfixing song has just been paired with another great video. The animated video (Justin Richburg) follows a who’s who of hip hop (from Kodak Black to The Game to MJ himself) as Childish walks through his neighborhood. None of the interactions seem random, with every scenario with either a subliminal interpretation (21 Savage and Metro Boomin in a car not wanting to be bothered) or a direct retelling (Nicki and Travis fighting over blocks). Childish Gambino is a lot smarter sometimes then we even give him credit, and that’s why he will always stay relevant.
