Last night was the Harlem Fashion Row’s Style Awards and Fashion show. The event was presented by Nike and LeBron himself, and had a concept based upon something near and dear to LeBron; “The Strongest”. “The Strongest” is a nod to African American women, who LeBron feels are the strongest people on earth. Taking inspiration from the women in his life like his mother, his wife, and his daughter, this may be James’ most personal venture thus far. That venture aligns with HFR’s mission which is to create an environment and opportunity for fashion designers of color, so this may have truly been a perfect pairing.
From this pairing we are getting what is potentially the most beautiful rendition of a LeBron to date. On September 7th, Nike will be releasing the first LeBron XVI model, and it will be the collaboration with HFR which is exclusively for women. I love the shoe and truly wish they came out in men’s but I completely respect LeBron choosing to “Put Women first” both in his personal life and with his brand.
See how the shoe came to be here.
