Nike Basketball is back again with their “Come Out of Nowhere” series. The series highlights one of their athletes and speaks to their grassroots moments before they became the premier athletes we know today. The first piece took place earlier this year with budding Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker. In this installment, the feature player is The Greek Freak Giannis Antetokounmpo. Giannis has quickly become one of the most exciting players in the NBA. His physical gifts are coupled with great hustle and tenacity on the court that really has us believing he can do it all on the court. At 6’11 he is scary athletic with a great skill to put the ball on the floor and facilitate. In addition, even with a slighter frame he is surprisingly physical with his play, and a true menace on defense. Antetokounmpo averaged 22.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists through the 2016-2017 NBA season. This past season also saw him as one of the leaders in All-Star votes on the East, which led him to be an All-Star starter. His Milwaukee Bucks are currently battling it out with the Toronto Raptors in the playoffs and Giannis is as consistent as ever. Coming from very humble beginnings Antetokounmpo grew up looking to help make ends meet for his family in Athens, before lighting up stat sheets. With a backstory as captivating as his play, this installment of the mini docuseries is definitely one to see.
