Emmy Nominations are Here Again

Tthe Television Academy kicked off the fall awards frenzy by announcing the nominees for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards. Streamed live from Los Angeles’ Wolf Theatre (AMAZING host duties by our  past winners Liza Colón-Zayas and Jeff Hiller handling hosting duties), it was a fun night that really showcased some fresh faces.

If this is the final bow for HBO Max’s critically adored Hacks, they are going out on an absolute high. The show’s fifth and final season racked up an insane 24 nominations, officially dethroning The Bear (which had a paltry 23). Led by the forever-lovely Jean Smart, (who secured yet another nod for Outstanding Lead Actress, as she should) the historic haul feels very much well deserved.

Over in drama , HBO Max’s much heralded (still not there yet on it) medical drama, The Pitt, walked away as the year’s most-nominated program, pulling in 25 nods (sorry Carmie). Led by Noah Wyle, the show absolutely dominated the acting categories. Actually, they might have In fact, owned the whole field.

But will it beat out Pluribus? Yes, I have went back and forth on Vince Gilligan’s fun slow burn (oh I mean slow), but will those 18 nominations land?  Lets not forget The Diplomat and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (fave of the year)/

With the legendary Mariska Hargitay (Where is Jalen? locked in to host, the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on NBC and stream on Peacock on Monday, September 14. Voting begins in August, and the stage is set for a historic night where television’s past, present, and future collide.
